New Checkout Periods: Starting Jan 21, 2014

The City Library's New Checkout Periods, starting January 21, 2014
The City Library has revised our checkout periods to a more simplified system, effective Tuesday, January 21, 2014. All items will check out for either 7 or 21 days (details below). In addition, all items may be renewed up to three times (an increase from two renewals) unless another patron has placed a hold on the item.

MOST ITEMS CHECK OUT FOR 21 DAYS
Books, Audiobooks, Music CDs, DVDs (excluding Feature Films or Children’s), Art Prints, CD-ROMs, Language Learning Resources, Literacy Kits, Maps, Pamphlets, Zines.

A FEW ITEMS CHECK OUT FOR 7 DAYS
Children’s DVDs, Feature Film DVDs, Magazines, Lucky Day Collection.

RENEW UP TO 3 TIMES
Unless the item is on hold for another patron, you can renew up to three times. Lucky Day items cannot be renewed.

THE CITY LIBRARY'S NEW CHECKOUT PERIODS:
• reduce the wait periods for popular materials
• increase the availability of materials for browsing and discovery
• are easier to understand and remember
• are more consistent with other libraries

These changes will not affect the amount of fines charged for overdue materials. For full policy information, please view The City Library Board of Directors’ Policy Revision memo (PDF).
