September 20, 2012 - The Salt Lake City Public Library Board of Directors unanimously approved a motion today to not make a selection for the Executive Director position.
Board Chair Kevin Werner made the following statement following the vote:
"The Library Board of Directors has voted to not make a selection for the Executive Director position. Although both candidates presented good qualifications, the Board was unable to make an offer of employment.
Steps are being taken to examine the recruitment process with a focus on attracting top quality applicants who will be a good match for the specific needs of our organization. The process of finding the right person who can take leadership in moving the organization forward might take some time, but the time spent will be a good investment. In the meantime, we have confidence that staff will continue in their commitment to provide innovative and quality services to the public.
Linda Hamilton will continue as the Library’s Transition Director while the Board determines its next steps."
