Throughout the year, Wasatch Community Gardens offers low and no-cost educational workshops that empower community members to grow and eat healthy, organic, local food. Join The City Library and Wasatch Community Gardens this winter for workshops that will help get you and your garden ready for a successful growing season. Whether you are a budding gardener just getting started or a seasoned grower looking to learn some new techniques, Wasatch Community Gardens has a class for you.
Advance registration suggested. Register at wasatchgardens.org. Wasatch Community Gardens has waived the registration fee for Library patrons and anyone who does not feel comfortable with the cost of the workshop. Select the "Scholarship option - $ 0.00" when registering.

The first step to gardening is planning, and the time to start is now. Learn the basics of vegetable garden planning, including bed design, placement, and creation to establish the basic structure of your garden.
Beginning Organic Gardening

Introduction to the basics of organic gardening, including healthy soil, crop rotation, compost basics, natural pest control, crop diversity, companion planting, and when and what to plant.
Your Year-Round Garden

Learn about the four seasons of possibilities in the garden. Topics include cold and warm season crops, what to plant when, how to grow in the cooler seasons, ways to extend your season, how to grow in supposedly fallow times, and what to expect in the garden during the coldest months.
