CUAC, a non-profit contemporary art organization operating in downtown Salt Lake City, combines forces with The City Library to offer unique, free art workshops for preschoolers (ages 3–5) and elementary school students (ages 5+). Each week will present a new experience and new information, and participants are encouraged to attend as many or as few sessions as their schedule allows—no registration necessary.
In March, the workshops will focus on the theme of Constant Motion. Movement is a basic human instinct. Artists often use their own body movements as a material, as in a dance performance or action. Objects can also move and be kinetic either electronically or naturally. Motion can be displayed by capturing movement through a camera lens. In these sessions, kids will explore the variety of ways in which movement itself is a work of art.
The art workshop for preschoolers begins at 10am each Thursday.
The CUAC Art Workshop on Thursdays at the Day-Riverside Branch will run in tandem with mirroring workshops offered at the Main Library each Tuesday at 10am (for preschoolers, ages 3–5) and each Tuesday at 4pm (for elementary school students, ages 5+).
