Matthew Allred’s photographic series, Heliography: The Arc of Time, uses handmade pinhole cameras and exposures that range from 24 hours to six months, creating an arc of time across the sky. His recent works step back from the technological process of photography, and revisit the slow exposure of light in the medium. Using a pinhole camera and a chemical process he developed to combat overexposure, the path of the sun is captured and fixed. The subsequent work, as he describes it, “focuses on describing the expansive motions of extended time.” This exhibition presents the photographs created using this process.
