Don’t miss the opportunity to see amazing films that missed a popular release on the big screen. Typically shown only in art-house cinemas, or older, lesser-known films, this film series provides the chance to see a broad array of cinematic delights that you may have missed.

Wake in Fright (1971, Rated R) is the story of John Grant, a bonded teacher who arrives in the rough Australian outback mining town of Bundanyabba planning to stay overnight before catching the plane to Sydney. But as one night stretches to five, he plunges headlong toward his own destruction. When the alcohol-induced mist lifts, the educated John Grant is no more. Instead there is a self-loathing man in a desolate wasteland: dirty, red-eyed, sitting against a tree and looking at a rifle with one bullet left…

Guest Host Stephen Simmons will give a brief introduction to the film, and conduct a discussion and Q&A session following the screening. Simmons is the Operations Manager at the Salt Lake Film Society

Under the Radar Film Series is presented with support from the Utah Film Center and the Salt Lake Film Society.
