Eid al-Fitr, which literally means “the feast of breaking the fast,” marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. The Day of Eid itself (Aug 7-8, 2013) is typically reserved for attending a congregational recital of the Eid Prayer followed by a sermon. After the prayers, Muslims visit their relatives, friends and acquaintances or hold large communal celebrations in homes, community centers or rented halls.

Eid al-Fitr is a time for fellowship− an opportunity to come together as a community and renew friendships and family ties. Join The City Library as we break the fast together with the community. The City Library’s celebration will have crafts and opportunities for friends of all ages to celebrate together.
