Sidewalk Etiquette

Reception: Thu, Apr 25, 6:30-8:30pm, Sweet Branch

Artist's Statement
When I make photographs
There is a moment
When the light is just right
Everything aligns, inspires
Mostly random things
A café in Sao Paulo
A flower wet with morning dew
An old woman walking
An open window

Often, I am alone
Close to home
Or somewhere far away
Buenos Aires in springtime
Santorini after rain
At times, it is subtle
A long shadow or reflection of light
Hanging bottles or something behind a glass window
Other times, it’s an explosion
Color and light, shadow and dark

Black and white photographs
Evoke a feeling of longing
A path through the wilderness
Random moments from a stroll on a city sidewalk

Biography
I moved to Utah from New Jersey in 1993 and have been a part of the Salt Lake community ever since. I am an international flight attendant based in Miami, Florida. I graduated from the University of Utah and received a B.A. in History in 2000. I am also a real estate agent with Equity Real Estate.

I continued my education in Fine Arts at Westminster College. My love for art, and for photography in particular, flourished through the guidance of David Baddley’s photography courses. I learned to work both traditionally and digitally. I particularly enjoyed working in the dark room and watching images appear on paper. I was very fortunate to participate in student art shows there. Art is an important part of my daily life. I spend much of my free time promoting art and visiting galleries. The library art exhibits are among my favorites. Around the World Photography, a website of my work, is my newest endeavor.
