My earliest, best memory of using a camera was when I was high school age on a family vacation. It was my first cruise vacation. I don’t remember many of the photographs I took. I do remember, however, that I left my camera in a public area on the ship, never to see it again. Fortunately, that did not turn out to be a bad omen. Photography has brought me many hours of enjoyment and many great experiences since that early event.
I graduated from Utah State University with a business and foreign language background. At the time, photography classes were not something I thought of. Over the years I’ve taught myself and learned from others. I’ve worked as a travel agent for many years. Due to my work as a travel agent, I have been invited for many years to travel industry events in Europe. Going to Europe many times over the past years has taken my photography interest and expertise to a much higher level. I love wandering the narrow streets of European cities and villages, so I can photograph amazing pictures and also to enjoy the culture. My around the world trip enabled me to wander in other areas of the world.
I was born and currently live in Salt Lake City. Not all of my life, however, has been spent living in Salt Lake City. I grew up in Reno, Nevada and moved to northern Utah with my family while I was in high school. I’ve also lived in Germany.
This photography exhibition chronicles my trip around the world last autumn which really lasted 18 days. Each day of the trip is represented by one photograph taken each of the 18 days. Together they tell much of the story of my amazingly interesting, fun and rewarding adventure. From Salt Lake City, to Chicago, to Dublin, to Hamburg and Leipzig in Germany, to Dubai, to South Korea and back home – it is a “ride” I’ll never forget.
