The right to be clean is one many take for granted, but millions of humans live in areas ravaged by disease due to unclean conditions. Derreck Kayongo, African refugee turned philanthropist, founded the Global Soap Project, an NGO that recycles gently used soaps and sends them to areas of need.
Kayongo was a finalist for CNN’s Hero 2011. The activist will share his story of moving to the United States and founding his organization. Kayongo will be introduced by Chair of the Arts and Cultural Events at Salt Lake Community College, Richard Scott.
This event is sponsored by Arts and Cultural Events at Salt Lake Community College.
